The Federal government is set to announce a 30% tax offset for the games development industry, as part of the Budget due to be handed down on Tuesday 11th May 2021. The offset represents the first national industry assistance since the Interactive Games Fund was halted in 2014, with only half of funds allocated.
Industry have welcomed the news, which comes after years of lobbying and a federal inquiry. Sector peak body the Interactive Games and Entertainment Association, made a submission ahead of this years' budget, seeking the offset, as well as restoration of the original Fund.
