VET Delivered to Secondary Students

VET Delivered to Secondary Students refers to Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses undertaken as part of school studies. Over two thirds of Australia’s senior secondary students are enrolled in a VET Delivered to Secondary Students course.

VET Delivered to Secondary Students courses enable you to earn credit towards a recognised VET qualification while you complete the general education curriculum or work toward your WA Certificate of Education (WACE).

With VET Delivered to Secondary Students, you can:
  • combine a vocational pathway with your studies
  • complete (or work towards) a certificate I, II or III
  • keep your options open to pursue further vocational education (such as courses at a Technical and Further Education institute), or move into higher education (such as undertaking courses at university).

VET qualifications, or the credit towards a qualification, are recognised by industry across Australia under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF). Some VET Delivered to Secondary Students participants are also Australian School-based Apprentices. Information on all VET qualifications and courses is available at http//training.gov.au.

VET Delivered to Secondary Students courses are offered in a wide range of industry areas, from aeronautics, engineering and building to business administration, hospitality and children’s services. They can be a good way to explore different occupations and to test whether you are interested in pursuing a future in that industry.

FutureNow and the other Training Councils have contributed to a Register of Industry Approved VET Delivered to Secondary Students courses. The register has an industry based colour rating system for all VET Delivered to Secondary Students courses:
  • Green allocated to a qualification suitable for VET Delivered to Secondary Students delivery,
  • Orange allocated to a qualification suitable for VET Delivered to Secondary Students delivery but some specific requirements apply, and
  • Red allocated to a qualification not recommended for VET Delivered to Secondary Students delivery.
