Hospitality

Hospitality is the art of welcoming people. Its overriding social aspect through the provision of food, drinks and rest, confirms Hospitality is at the heart and soul of the community.

It is a service industry comprising a wide range of fields broadly divided into Accommodation and Food & Beverage services. The industry encompasses a large workforce in front- and back-of-house service, in establishments ranging from budget to ultra-luxurious, including hotels, motels, holiday parks & resorts, cruise ships, restaurants, clubs, pubs, arenas and sporting venues, cafés or coffee shops, catering services and casinos and Quick Service Restaurants/Fast Food.
The hospitality industry, particularly in food and beverage continues to experience labour and skills shortages.
FutureNow Career Pathways Project

Picture
A suite of occupational and pathway guides and a website thecareers.guide have been produced by FutureNow to present career pathways information to prospective learners interested in employment in the hospitality field.

FutureNow and Tourism WA (TWA) have collaborated on a career promotion program through the appointed of a Hospitality, Tourism and Events Career Advisor. This will involve visits to a number of High schools to promote careers in these industries. Please contact Birgit Smith on 0459 980 920 or bsmith@futurenow.org.au if you would like her to visit your school for a presentation.

FutureNow and TWA are working with Hospitality Group Training (HGT) to deliver a Chef Ambassador Program – young chefs visit high schools and present to students who are currently studying hospitality courses to help inspire them into undertaking a career as a chef. Click here for more information
The overarching aim of the three projects is to impact the decision makers in a young person’s life to consider occupations in this sector.
