Events

Events are society’s means of marking an occasion or celebration and appeal to people’s desire for community connectedness as well as sharing one-off experiences with one another. As an industry, Events face the demands of seamless organisation, coordination and implementation of services for the occasions when groups of people gather.

The industry can be segmented according to purpose of the event and is broadly divided into three categories:

     1.    business events such as meetings, conferences and exhibitions;
     2.   community or cultural events such as sport, food & wine, live performance or festivals; and
     3.   functions such as weddings, balls, banquets and dinners.

FutureNow Career Pathways Project
A suite of occupational and pathway guides and a website
thecareers.guide have been produced by FutureNow to present career pathways information to prospective learners interested in employment in the Event Management field.

FutureNow and Tourism WA have collaborated on a career promotion program through the appointed of a Hospitality, Tourism and Events Career Advisor. This will involve visits to a number of High schools to promote careers in these industries. Please contact Birgit Smith on 0459 980 920 or bsmith@futurenow.org.au if you would like her to visit your school for a presentation.
