Digital technology qualifications remain on the low fee existing worker traineeship list for 202422/12/2023
The State Government have announced that the low fee existing worker traineeship initiative (LFEWT) for the Certificate IV in Cyber Security, and Diploma and Advanced Diploma of Information Technology qualifications will continue to be available in 2024. Through the LFEWT initiative, course fees are reduced by 72%. Annual course fees are also capped at $400 a year for youth under 25 and concession holders, and $1,200 a year for all other students.

The report provides a snapshot of the workforce in Australia's visitor economy. The report cover the size and composition of the tourism workforce, vacancies in tourism-related occupations, recruitment activity and the availability of international labour.

The State Government has announced a new $2.8 million Kimberley Tourism Program package to support local tourism businesses in their recovery from this year's unseasonal weather events. The package includes a $1.7 million aviation package, offering discounted airfares to visitors flying to and across the Kimberley region.
Other initiatives of the program include self-drive promotions, with $100 discount vouchers to incentivise visitors to extend their stays at Australia's North West holiday parks. This will be backed by a special Kimberley Season Pass offer with 50 per cent off tours and experiences across the Kimberley region to boost bookings for local tourism operators. The Federal government has committed $10 million in funding to support the development of a national one-stop digital hub for tourism, travel and hospitality employers and workers.
This grant has been provided to Accommodation Australia to expand and promote its existing online platform, 'The Hub.' The Hub will serve as a national online skills and employment platform for the tourism, travel, and hospitality industry. It will connect workers with jobs, as well as upskilling and training opportunities for the homegrown and international workers that the industry needs. More information may be found here.
