As part of the new National Sustainability Framework for the tourism sector, a Toolkit was launched on Friday last week by all State and Territory Tourism Ministers.
The Framework sets out the commitment to advance sustainability in the sector, and the vision for Australia to be a world leader in sustainable tourism. The Sustainable Tourism Toolkit is designed to help tourism businesses across Australia to begin their journey to become more sustainable. This transformative Women Leaders in Sport Scholarship program that runs across 7 weeks is now open for applications for 2024. Organised by the Australian Sports Commission the program provides education about contemporary leadership practices and networking with other inspiring Australian sport leaders and aspiring leaders.

The Office for Sport, under the Department of Health and Aged Care, has initiated a comprehensive public consultation to shape the forthcoming National Sport Plan. This strategic endeavor aims to leverage the transformative power of sports and physical activity, fostering healthy, active, connected, and thriving communities.

Jobs and Skills Australia have launched their 2024-25 annual work plan for consultation. Particularly helpful for females, the system bridges education to employment, contributing to a $10,000 median income uplift and supports lifelong learning. It also positions VET graduates to support Australia's clean energy future, especially in engineering and related technology fields.

A new report released by the National Centre for VET Education Research in collaboration wit the Australian Bureau of Statistics and Jobs and Skills Australia tracks VET student outcomes for the top 100 courses (by completion). This new data set (known as the VET National Data Asset or VNDA) will provide a consistent evidence base to measure sector outcomes, drawing from a detailed analysis of the employment, economic, social, and further study outcomes for VET students.

That’s the key message from the Australian Computer Society’s Digital Pulse 2023 report, which also found artificial intelligence will disrupt up to 90 per cent of Australian jobs. To tackle the impending crisis, ACS proposes a National Digital Skills Strategy including a skills-first education and training initiative; a national skills platform; more support for career transitions towards a tech-orientated career; programs to boost participation by women; and assisting skilled migrants to utilise their capabilities.
Read more in the Information Age Access the 2023 Digital Pulse report The State Government has launched the TAFE: Be More campaign to showcase the vocational education and training (VET) courses and pathways available at TAFE colleges around the state.
Prospective students can explore over 1,000 courses on the new TAFE website that are specifically designed to cater to their career and study objectives. The website hosts short films that offer a glimpse into the lives of TAFE students. The brand campaign positions TAFE as leader in achieving life changing outcomes for individuals and features more than 30 WA TAFE students who are completing VET qualifications, giving them skills to get ahead and excel in their chosen career. The campaign was filmed on location at each of the five TAFE colleges throughout WA, and showcases the diverse range of study areas as well as the state-of-the-art equipment and facilities available. Music tracks for the campaigns were also created by TAFE students. ‘TAFE: Be More’ specifically aims to inspire Western Australians to enrol at TAFE to progress their training and career opportunities – regardless of where they live or the barriers they may face. |
