![]() The National Centre for Vocational Education Research has released a report entitled The role and function of small VET providers. The aim of the report was to "gain a better understanding of the role and function of small providers in the Australian vocational education and training (VET) system in meeting the needs of learners". Small providers account for nearly a third of all providers in Australia though service only 1% of students nationally. Despite these low numbers, small providers were found to play a crucial role in the provision of a broad range of training options, and in servicing disadvantaged students and remote and regional areas. Small providers were found to have less reliance on digital delivery and with their small-scale intimate delivery environments, achieved slightly better completion rates than the overall average.
