Groundswell program encourages innovation in the regions

The WA Government has launched a new regional innovation fund, GroundSwell, intended to assist small regional businesses accelerate their growth, create jobs, become more globally competitive and ride out the effects of COVID-19. Expressions of interest are now open for 'experienced organisations that deliver programs to assist regional businesses realise performance improvements and adopt technology for enhanced penetration into external markets'. The GroundSwell program will provide grants of up to $200,000 to deliver targeted entrepreneurship and technology training and support programs in regional Western Australia. Expressions of Interest (EOI) are sought from organisations that run programs under each of the following two themes:

• Entrepreneurship programs that deliver regional education, training, mentoring, and resources to students and business founders to test business ideas launch start-ups and grow businesses. 
• Technology programs that support regional SMEs to adopt technologies to streamline internal processes, cut costs and enhance their profitability and competitiveness. Technologies may include additive manufacturing, artificial intelligence, data and analytics and software as a service.
