The strategy sets out a long-term vision for how Australia will take advantage of the opportunities of quantum technologies. The strategy is built around 5 themes, including Theme 3: A skilled and growing quantum workforce. The theme includes commitments to deliver a quantum technology talent PhD scholarship, release a quantum technologies report that includes a skills taxonomy, and integrate quantum science into schools STEM curriculum.

In 2022 around one in seven recruiting employers (14%) did not advertise their most recent vacancy and only used word of mouth and/or considered job seekers who approached the business directly.
