Funeral Services Training Package

The Funeral Services Training Package provides nationally recognised qualifications from Certificate II through to higher-level qualifications, equipping learners with practical and professional skills to work in funeral operations. Training can be delivered through institutional courses or traineeships, combining structured learning with on-the-job experience. Core skills include client support, cultural awareness, embalming, funeral arrangements, and workplace safety, preparing students and trainees to meet the evolving workforce demands of WA’s funeral services sector.

Jobs and Skills Council
Service and Creative Skills Australia (SaCSA) is the Jobs and Skills Council for the  Personal Services sectors.
SaCSA will identify skills and workforce needs for the personal services sector , map career pathways across education sectors, develop contemporary VET training products, support collaboration between industry and training providers to improve training and assessment practice, and act as a source of intelligence on issues affecting the industry. SaCSA works closely with Jobs and Skills Australia, drawing on its workforce analysis and projections to plan for their industry sector and creating a consistent approach to addressing skill gaps.​

Institutional Delivery and Traineeships

.Funeral Services training in Western Australia is primarily delivered through institutional courses, providing students with nationally recognised qualifications in funeral directing, embalming, arranging, and client support. Some employers also offer traineeships, allowing learners to combine on-the-job experience with formal study. These pathways equip students and trainees with the practical skills, cultural awareness, and professional knowledge required to meet the workforce needs of funeral homes, cemeteries, and crematoria across WA.

FutureNow works with industry to provide current advice on the suitability of vocational qualifications for delivery to secondary students. This advice is collated and updated annually into the VET Delivered to Secondary Students Register by the Department of Training and Workforce Development.
