Training and Education

Beauty training in Western Australia is delivered through nationally recognised qualifications in the Beauty Services Training Package. These courses provide practical, job-ready skills in skincare, makeup, nails, lashes, and spa therapies, while also covering client consultation, workplace health and safety, and business practices. Training pathways support students to meet the current and future workforce needs of metropolitan and regional WA beauty services.

Careers typically begin through institutional delivery and traineeships and can progress into senior beauty therapist, spa manager, educator, or business owner roles. Hairdressing and Beauty Services Training Package

The Beauty Training Package provides nationally recognised qualifications that equip learners with the skills and knowledge needed to work in a range of beauty services, including salons, spas, and clinics. Covering Certificate I through to higher-level qualifications, the package focuses on practical, job-ready skills such as skincare, nails, makeup, lashes, spa therapies, client consultation, and workplace safety. Training aligns with current industry practices, ensuring trainees and students are prepared to meet the workforce needs of Western Australia’s beauty sector.

Jobs and Skills Council
Service and Creative Skills Australia (SaCSA) is the Jobs and Skills Council for the  Personal Services sectors.
SaCSA will identify skills and workforce needs for the personal services sector, map career pathways across education sectors, develop contemporary VET training products, support collaboration between industry and training providers to improve training and assessment practice, and act as a source of intelligence on issues affecting the industry. SaCSA works closely with Jobs and Skills Australia, drawing on its workforce analysis and projections to plan for their industry sector and creating a consistent approach to addressing skill gaps.​

Apprenticeships and Traineeships

​Beauty training in Western Australia is delivered through a combination of institutional courses and traineeships, providing flexible pathways to gain nationally recognised qualifications. Institutional delivery allows students to complete structured, classroom-based training, while traineeships combine on-the-job experience with formal study. Both pathways equip learners with practical, job-ready skills in skincare, nails, makeup, lashes, spa therapies, client consultation, and workplace safety, preparing them to meet the workforce needs of WA’s beauty industry.​

​VET for Secondary Students

FutureNow works with industry to provide current advice on the suitability of vocational qualifications for delivery to secondary students. This advice is collated and updated annually into the VET Delivered to Secondary Students Register by the Department of Training and Workforce Development.
