The Service Skills Tourism, Hospitality and Events Environmental Scan is developed by Service Skills Australia (SSA) - FutureNow's national counterpart, to provide an industry specific overview of trends and developments. It has been developed in partnership with industry and reflects the key issues identified by each sector.

  • promotes the need for recognition of the significant contribution the service industries make to the Australian economy - both economic and social
  • advocates for skill development that ensures the right skills are being developed for the job outcome
  • provides information on workforce development needs and the current impact of training packages in the tourism, hospitality and events industries.

The 2011 E-Scan for the tourism, hospitality and events industries can be downloaded here.

IBSA's Environment Scan (Escan) underpins advice to governments and other stakeholders on skills and workforce development issues across six industry sectors; Business Services, Cultural and Creative Industries, Financial Services, Information and Communications Technologies, Printing and Graphic Arts and Training and Education.

Escan 2011 presents a detailed, evidence-driven analysis of the social, demographic, technological, economic and labour market environments influencing workforce development and skills demand, along with emerging cross-industry issues.

Racing Environmental Scan

The AgriFood Skills Australia Environmental Scan provides individual enterprises, industry and its numerous sectors with an opportunity to influence factors that largely dictate productivity - the skills and knowledge of their workforce. It is a unique industry snapshot and a policy document with the capacity to influence outcomes at a strategic policy level - right through to the day-to-day operations of training providers.

The Environmental Scan captures the interests of all agrifood stakeholders in a compact, comprehensive and contemporary overview of the industry that will:

  • Influence governments to resource agrifood industry workforce development initiatives and training places
  • Validate critical skill and labour shortages, which need to be understood and addressed by whole-of-government solutions (i.e. immigration, taxation,
  • labour supply, industry development and infrastructure requirements)
  • Provide real-time advice to training providers and guide their products and services to better respond to industry's skill needs
  • Inform those organisations which need to play a vital role in a broader, more integrated approach to workforce development, for example, local governments, schools, universities, research bodies.

The 2011 E-Scan for the agri-food industries (inclusive of racing) can be downloaded here.
