State Sporting Associations Learning and Workforce Development Survey

Apex Human Resources Consultancy, led by former Football West chief executive Garry Chandler, has been engaged by FutureNow, in conjunction with the Department of Sport and Recreation and the Western Australian Sports Federation, to undertake a major project focusing on the learning and workforce development requirements of the sports industry within Western Australia. All State Sporting Associations will be emailed a copy of the project brief and survey to receive feedback with regards to the learning and workforce development needs within the industry and their organisation. This information will support future decision making, strategy development and related investment within the sports industry in Western Australia.

FutureNow Tourism, Hospitality and Events Industry Projects March - June 2010

FutureNow is currently working on multiple projects to improve the delivery of apprenticeships and traineeships in the hospitality industry. 

Current hospitality submissions to the WA Office of the State Training Board include:

  • Establishment of a Pattissier Apprenticeship COMPLETED
  • Classification Review of Certificate III in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery) Apprenticeship
  • Variation of a Traineeship (Nominal Term) - Certificate II in Hospitality (Kitchen Operations) School-based Traineeship
  • Variation of a Traineeship (Nominal Term) - Certificate II in Hospitality (Operations) School-based Traineeship
  • Variation of a Traineeship (Nominal Term) - Certificate III in Hospitality (Operations) Traineeship
  • Variation of a Traineeship (Part-time Arrangements) - Certificate III in Hospitality (Gaming)

Workforce Development Planning

FutureNow is currently conducting research and industry consultation in the area of workforce development for the creative and leisure industries.  All findings will be submitted to the WA Department of Training and Workforce Development by the 31st June 2010.  In the mean time, FutureNow will realease this 'working document' for industry comment.  This important document will provide advice to State Government to ensure that vocational education and training is providing the skills, knowledge and opportunities required for successful and sustainable business outcomes in Western Australia.

State Training Profile 2010-2012

Industry Advice - Cultural and Recreational; Tourism and Hospitality; Information and Communications Technology; and Printing industries:

Completed in August 2009, the purpose of the State Training Profile is to provide a comprehensive plan for the provision of vocational education and training (VET) in the State. The Profile articulates the priorities and directions for publicly funded VET, based on the identified training needs of Western Australian industry and regional communities.
