Women in Technology WA (WITWA) is a Perth based, not for profit organisation providing a network for women in technology to extend their professional knowledge and foster new contacts in industry. WITWA also proactively encourage young people of both sexes in WA to consider technology as a stimulating and viable career.
The 2013 WITWA end of year event was held at KPMG on Thursday 12 Dec and included a discussion panel featuring (among others) WA Chief Scientist Lyn Beazley and City of Perth Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi. FutureNow Creative Industries Project Manager Jo Pickup attended the event at the invitation of WITWA committee chair Marjolein Towler and committee secretary Sheryl Frame.
All speakers noted that improvements and greater support at the political level is required to ensure a higher IT and science skills base in WA to secure our state’s capacity as a knowledge hub and leader in technology.
