In Phase One of the study, ACIL Allen Consulting identified a range of critical occupations for which construction and operations associated with large mining and infrastructure projects are likely to seek and attract workers from non-resource industries*.
It is often difficult for businesses in the non-resource industries to hire and retain workers and this leads to “crowding out” of the non-resource sector.
- Determine which non-resource industries are being impacted by "crowding out" in each of the 25 critical occupations.
- Identify occupations where resource industry businesses can hire workers whose skills can be transferred from their previous employment in the non-resource sector.
Your business’s participation in this survey is critical to the success of the study, which will be used to guide future state government policy for alleviating skills constraints that have the potential to restrict further expansion and growth of the Western Australian economy.
