Recently Parrott launched a multi-disciplinary arts space ‘Chrissie Parrott Arts’ (CPA), in Maylands WA. The studio and performance space is fast becoming one of Perth’s most dynamic hubs for WA’s independent performing arts community. The space is targeted at creating work and opportunities for emerging, mid-career and senior local artists.
On Wed 18 Dec Chrissie Parrott Arts hosted an official launch event of CPA’s Fringe World Program. This event gave the artists behind these shows a chance to talk to the audience about their works, and in some cases, to perform short ‘teaser’ excerpts of their shows.
In coordinating such events and initiatives, Chrissie Parrott Arts’ is providing a vital support mechanism for WA’s independent artistic talent. CPA’s ‘umbrella’ support enhances local independent artists’ ability to develop their creative works, and to perform these works to local audiences. In some cases this support structure makes the difference in a young artists ability and confidence to pursue their creative projects – a process in which numerous new skills are acquired, and which leads to future artistic and professional opportunities for these emerging WA artists.
FutureNow wishes Chrissie Parrott Arts all the best in continuing its growth as such a vital lever for WA performing artists.
