WA Minister for Education and Training the Honourable Sue Ellery BA MLC announced on Saturday 28th March a new delivery approach for Western Australian TAFE colleges in response to the Covid-19 crisis. From Term 2, the blended style of delivery will include learning via online and interactive technologies, and face-to-face delivery where necessary and where adequate social distancing measures can be implemented. Courses that have been delivered exclusively online will continue to do so. From Monday (March 30) until the end of term on April 9, there will be a temporary pause in the face-to-face delivery of most courses. Social isolation measures undertaken as a response to the Covid-19 health crisis have led to the cancellation and postponement of hundreds of concerts, conferences, events and festivals across Australia and the rest of the world, and many performers, businesses and contractors have lost work and income as a result. The Australian Music Industry Network and the Australian Festival Association have joined with industry partners to tally the impact of these cancellations on the Australian performing arts, events, venues and associated industries and workers with the launch of the I Lost My Gig website and survey. The website states "we're working hard to find ways to support people and businesses who have been affected, so leave your details so we can connect with you in the future about funding opportunities and other support". Visit the website to contribute and complete the survey As part of ongoing reviews of the ICT Information Communications Technology, and BSB Business Services training packages, ICT10115 Certificate I in Information, Digital Media and Technology and ICT20115 Certificate II in Information, Digital Media and Technology were proposed to be deleted and replaced with general business and employability qualifications from the BSB training package. Skills Service Organisation (SSO) PwC Skills for Australia have now advised that this proposal is no longer being considered. The future of these ICT qualifications is currently under discussion by the ICT Industry Reference Committee. FutureNow provided industry-driven feedback to the SSO that these qualifications are broadly utilised as pathways into higher-level ICT qualifications as well as digital media-focused creative industries training and employment. The Training Accreditation Council has released a report following its Strategic Review into Third Party Arrangements entered into by Registered Training Organisations. In 2019, the Training Accreditation Council (TAC) endorsed a strategic review into third party arrangements established by RTOs following concerns including the extensive use of third parties by RTOs, limited RTO understanding of what constitutes a third party arrangement and an apparent lack of formalised agreements between RTOs and their third parties. Recommendations contained in the final report aim to provide further information and guidance to RTOs and third parties, enhance data collection and continued monitoring relating to third party arrangements, including training and assessment practices of third parties.
