Since my appointment as the inaugural CEO back in October 1990, vocational education and training has seen many changes, mostly for the better. I have been fortunate to have been involved with a special mix of industries with a wonderful range of people in industry, government and training.
I have also been blessed with so many talented and special staff over the years many of whom have gone on to their own successful careers in a range of fields after FutureNow. My Chairs and Boards over the years have been supportive, committed and have always given me great encouragement and freedom to achieve the organisation’s strategic goals, and improve training outcomes for the creative and leisure industries.
I am a fervent believer in the creative and leisure industries as the lifeblood of Western Australia. Its contribution to the social, cultural, creative, innovative, wellbeing, knowledge and economic fabric of our society is often under recognised by Government. It is this belief and the future potential of the industries which has driven my advocacy. I have thoroughly enjoyed my role and I know that I will miss it.
Thank you for the friendships I have developed and to everyone who has contributed to the work of FutureNow over the years. I hope you will continue to do so in the future.
